Baby Kimono

I'm having quite the knitting moment. I made this little baby Kimono for my gorgeous new niece. The pattern is by Elizabeth Shaw and is available for free on ravelry.

The yarn is some acrylic DK I bought about three years ago. I don't have any more details as they have been festering in my yarn pot, but it should make a nice light summer cardigan.

I made a size medium. The pattern was straight forward and knit quickly. It is finished with a couple of simple pearlescent buttons.

Hobbywool Alpaca

I recently visited Riga in Latvia where I came across a beautiful shop in the old town called Hobbywool selling yarns and handmade lovely knitted goods. I didn't have room to bring many things back, but I did buy 4 skeins of black alpaca, light finger-weight yarn. Once I returned home I decided I wanted more and they were kind enough to send me another 6 skeins in the post.

Currently leaning towards making a Smaragd jumper by Svetlana Volkova, available on ravelry. However the sun is out today so I might start some summer knits instead.

Yellow and Grey Caramel cardigan by Isabell Kraemer

I have just finished my Caramel cardigan. I made a size medium using Rowan Superwash DK. Six balls of gold and 3 balls in shale, bought on offer for £3.60 each from John Lewis online. The pattern was very easy to follow, it is available for free on Ravelry. I lengthened the sleeves slightly, although I might shorten them to bracelet length to make the cardigan more of a jacket. I have fastened it with a broach for now, but I plan on adding gold popper fasteners down one side.

The wool is very warm, but I was slightly disappointed with the yarn as there were joins in the middle and some fluffy lint. Not sure Rowan is what it once was. It did iron well and looks nice now it is finished.
